Services > Public Safety

Public Safety is one of the main verticals that Solana Technologies is currently focusing on. We can construct and implement solutions to provide new advanced technology and security specific to the needs of each police department. We can design and construct an infrastructure with IP telephony phone systems, servers connected to the Department of Public Safety (DPS) and wireless communications connecting patrol vehicles to the DPS for rapid response on queries. This process can include:

  • Software for a Computer Aided Dispatch and Records Management System
  • Ruggedized Laptops mounted in vehicles
  • Encryption technology for secure communications over the wireless system and CJIS compliance
  • Two-factory authentication for officer security and CJIS compliance
  • Satellite communication for a second mode of communications

Wireless, Mobile Data Access

Solana Technologies’s Metro Mesh creates a wireless canopy that can cover an entire city, county or municipality. Most of our Metro Mesh is geared toward public safety to allow police officers to stay visible on the streets and yet remain up to date with reports and paperwork that is necessary for their jobs. In essence, the Metro Mesh canopy makes the station house obsolete, so officers can work from their cars and in the field. Cities everywhere want to make their officers more visible, because having a presence on the streets keeps crime down. Keeping the officers on the streets also shortens the time it takes to have officers arrive at the scene of a crime when time is of the essence. When officers are in the station filling out their paperwork, no one can see them and their valuable presence is being wasted. Just having an officer sitting in his car at the curb catching up on his paperwork allows the city to remain safer without having to hire more officers or buy new patrol cars.

High-speed network connectivity in the patrol cars also helps to keep the officers themselves safer whilst in the field. It allows them up to the minute access to accurate information that could make a difference in a critical situation, keeping the officers informed of any criminal activity passing through their jurisdiction. This wireless connectivity also facilitates CJIS lookups, in car paperwork, form filing, records management, and streamlines procedures.

The Metro Mesh may be installed for the use of the police department and public safety officers. But once the infrastructure is built, its incredible bandwidth can support any number of alternative uses. Any city worker that needs to have ubiquitous wireless activity is supported in the network. This can entail anything from automated meter readers to public Internet access. The options are limitless when it comes to Metro Mesh.
